H.M.S. Vesper was one of twenty-five "V" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18.

Service

Vesper was re-commissioned on 25 August, 1920.[5]

Vesper was re-commissioned at Chatham on 15 August, 1924.[6]

She re-commissioned on 20 April, 1927,[7] but paid off on 11 August.[8]

The ship was re-commissioned at Devonport on 21 November, 1930, to be appointed under the command of Alfred Jerome Lucian Phillips the following day for work with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla with the Atlantic Fleet.[9]

She commissioned in Reserve at The Nore on 15 July, 1932.[10]

In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[11]

Vesper was re-commissioned on 10 June, 1937 under Lt. Cdr. L.V. Lloyd at The Nore.[12]

Captains

Dates of appointment are provided when known.

Hugh Rose Troup may have been loaned to the ship in early 1923.
