Life & Career
Sheffield was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 March, 1918.
Sheffield was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 March, 1926.
Sheffield was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1931.
Appointed in command of the survey ship Challenger from 12 October, 1931 to 10 November, 1931.
World War II
Mentioned in despatches for courge, leadership and skill during the build-up of the Normandy Bridgehead.
Sheffield was placed on the Retired List on account of age with the rank of Captain on 23 October, 1945.
