H.M.S. Velox was one of twenty-five "V" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18.
There was an earlier destroyer named Velox.
Service
Velox was commissioned on 14 March, 1918[6] and immediately joined the Dover Patrol's Sixth Destroyer Flotilla.[7]
She was re-commissioned on 3 May, 1923. By March 1925, she was with First Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[8]
She was commissioned on 6 January, 1926.[9]
Velox was paid off into Dockyard Control on 14 December, 1928.[10]
She re-commissioned at Chatham on 18 November, 1930 for work with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[11]
Velox was re-commissioned on 11 January, 1933 for work with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla.[12]
In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[13]
She was re-commissioned in Reserve on 2 October 1934.[14]
Commissioned at Chatham on 16 November 1936 to be transferred to the Reserve Fleet at The Nore.[15]
