H.M.S. Surly was one of thirty-six 27 Knotters, a broad meta-class of early Torpedo Boat Destroyers built for the Royal Navy in the 1890s.

She was one of the few 27 knotters who survived through the Great War despite their obsolete nature.

Construction & Service

She was one of twenty-seven T.B.Ds. of the Portsmouth Flotilla to participate in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1909.[8]

In mid-1913, in Portsmouth, tender to Fisgard.[9]

Captains

Dates of appointment are provided when known.

There seems to be a conflict between Richardson and Mortimer.
