On 6 December, 1905, the destroyer Wolf collided with Blackwater while the two approached a mooring. Their speed was judged too high for the manoeuvre.[8]

Blackwater was lost off Dungeness in collision with a steamer named Hero. The crew of the steamer said it had fallen in with the flotilla in the Channel and that Blackwater tried to cross her bows and was hit in her starboard quarter.[9]
