H.M.S. Dee was one of 36 destroyers of the "River" class.
Service
In April, 1908, she was one of ten Rivers expected to arrive at Portsmouth in order to have H.M.S. Vernon install wireless telegraphy equipment in them.[8]
Dee was detached from the Eastern Destroyer Group at Harwich as part of one of two divisions of "River" class destroyers sent on 2 June 1908 to escort the King and Queen on a visit to Russia. The muscle in this escort was to be the cruisers Natal, Cochrane, Minotaur and Achilles.[9]
When her sister Usk paid off at Sheerness on 1 May, 1911, her crew were sent to recommission Dee at Devonport.[10]
In mid-1913, Dee was in the Ninth Destroyer Flotilla, a patrol flotilla.[11]
Dee collided with the destroyer Teviot on 7 November, 1913.[12]
On 2 February, 1914, she was one of five Rivers of the Ninth Destroyer Flotilla paid off at Sheerness and Chatham, immediately recommissioning with new crews.[13]
By May 1919, Dee was among 33 obsolete ships awaiting sale.[14]
