H.M.S. Miranda was one of one hundred and three destroyers of the "M" class built for the Royal Navy during the Great War.
Service
In September 1914, Miranda was selected as an "M class T.B.D." to join Third Destroyer Flotilla as the half-flotilla leader and be fitted with a Mark II W/T set, longer mast, No. 2 set of flags and two additional signal ratings.[7][8]
At the Battle of Dogger Bank on 24 January 1915, Miranda fired a torpedo at 11:00am from 5,500 yards with 135R and 20 knot target, securing (it was believed and reported) a hit under the bridge of its target.[9]
In June 1915, she joined the Tenth Destroyer Flotilla, which was part of the Harwich Force and comprised of seventeen "M" class destroyers. She remained there until November 1918, except for spending a few months in late 1917 in the Second Destroyer Flotilla on the Northern Division, Coast of Ireland Station, operating out of Buncrana, returning to the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla in November 1917.
On 10 March, 1916, Miranda collided with Lennox. Miranda's Lt. Cdr. Crohan was blamed for the accident and was told to be more careful in future.
In November 1918, she moved to the Twenty-first Destroyer Flotilla. In February 1919, she moved to the Nore, on a "miscellaneous" assignment.
On 10 November 1919 she collided with the "M" Class destroyer Phoebe.
Paid off 19 November, 1919.[10]
