H.M.S. Rother was one of the Royal Navy's thirty-six "River" class destroyers.
Service
Rother was one of seventeen destroyers of the Reserve Division which left Sheerness on 1 July, 1905 for Spithead under the overall command of Commander R. G. Gregory in H.M.S. Spitfire.[8]
In 1910, Rother was part of the First Destroyer Flotilla, operating as part of the First Division, Home Fleet.
In mid-1913, active with Ninth Destroyer Flotilla — a patrol flotilla.[9] She remained with 9 D.F. until going to join the Portsmouth Defence Flotilla in April, 1915.
In August, 1917 Rother moved to join the Seventh Destroyer Flotilla under the command of Rear-Admiral commanding the East Coast of England.
In January, 1918, she moved to join the First Destroyer Flotilla under command of the Commander-in-Chief, Portsmouth.
By May 1919, Rother was among 33 obsolete ships awaiting sale.[10]
