H.M.S. C 33 was one of thirty-eight "C" class coastal submarines completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
While under the command of Lt. Brownlow Villiers Layard, C 33 collided with the battleship Prince of Wales in June, 1913. Layard had also suffered a collision while in command of C 34 just a few months earlier.[5]

- Lieutenant in Command Theodore S. Brodie, 15 December, 1910 – 8 November, 1911[7]
- Lieutenant in Command Gerald E. B. Carter, 8 November, 1911[8][9] – 5 August, 1915[10] (died when submarine lost, likely to a mine)
