H.M.S. Keppel was one of five flotilla leaders of the Shakespeare class.
Service
Commander Frederick Hew George Dalrymple-Hamilton was appointed to her on 10 February, 1925 and remained with her as she neared completion at Portsmouth, but it is not clear whether he commissioned her.[5]
Re-commissioned at Devonport on 2 February, 1926 for service with the Third Destroyer Flotilla on the China Station.[6]
She was re-commissioned at Devonport on 16 October, 1928 under the command of Captain (D) Cyril Gordon Sedgwick to support the Third Destroyer Flotilla, now on the Mediterranean Station.[7]
Completed to Special Complement at Devonport on 1 September, 1930.[8]
She next commissioned at Chatham on 23 October, 1931.[9]
The ship was re-commissioned at Hong Kong for service with the Eighth Destroyer Flotilla on the China Station on 26 April, 1933.[10]
She was taken into Dockyard Control at Devonport on 25 March, 1937.[11]
