Admiral THE HONOURABLE Stanhope Hawke, Royal Navy, Retired (12 or 16 April, 1863 – 1 February, 1936) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Early Life & Career
Hawke was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1886.[1]
Hawke was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1899.[2]
Captain
Hawke was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1905.[3]
On 7 December, 1906, Hawke was appointed in command of the cruiser Thetis.[4] He was appointed in command of the Charybdis on 25 March, 1907.[5]
He was appointed in command of the light cruiser Achilles on 18 April, 1911.[6]
He was appointed in command of the battleship Irresistible on 15 April, 1914.[7]
Great War
He was appointed command of battleship Illustrious on 25 July, 1915.[8]
From March to October in 1916, he was captain of the battleship Prince George.[9]
Hawke was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 26 April, 1917.[10] He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 27 April.[11]
Hawke was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 6 April, 1922.[12] He was advanced to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 25 October, 1926.[13]
