On 16 May 1900, T.B. 85 fired a practice torpedo which struck her. She had to be toweed to Devonport Harbour for docking to repair the considerable damage.[6]
Sold initially to Stanlee of Dover, but then resold to J. E. Thomas on 22 October, 1921 alongside her sisters T.B. 82 and T.B. 86.[7]
