H.M.S. Louis was one of twenty-two destroyers of the Laforey class.
Service
Louis was one of sixteen Laforeys assigned to the Third Destroyer Flotilla upon her commissioning. That formation was attached to the First Fleet, then, simply to "Home and Atlantic Waters". In March 1915, its strength had increased to twenty destroyers and it moved to join the Tenth Destroyer Flotilla as part of the Harwich Striking Force.
In September 1915, Louis was one of four Laforeys pared off to join the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.
Louis was wrecked in Suvla Bay on 31 October. A Court Martial convened on 3-4 December, 1915 proved a charge that Lt. Cdr. Harold D. Adair-Hall had negligently or by default stranded the ship. He was reprimanded and dismissed the (lost) ship.
