Lieutenant-Commander Robert Chapman, R.N., Retired (21 January, 1878 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Chapman was promoted to the rank of Acting Gunner (T) on 2 March, 1905. At the end of July 1905, he was given command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 83.[1] He was confirmed in his rank on 16 March, 1906.
Chapman was noted as having a "delightful manner" and being "exceptionally good at electrical work."
Chapman was promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 13 September, 1918.
Post-War
Chapman was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 12 August, 1922.
Chapman was appointed in command of the tender Redwing on 12 April, 1926. He was superseded on 20 January, 1928.
Chapman was placed on the Retired List on account of age on 21 January, 1928 and subsequently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander (retired) on 12 August, 1930.
