Captain (retired) Roger Prideaux Selby, D.S.O. (14 October, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Prideaux George Selby, Esq., Physician and Surgeon.[1]

Sub-Lieutenant Selby was the officer in charge of H.M.S. Lion's T.S. at the Battle of Jutland. His work there was so exemplary that he was specially promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May 1916, later altered to 15 December, 1915.[2]

Selby was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 December, 1923.

Selby was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1929.

He fractured his lower jaw in January, 1933 and was found fit on 20 February.[3]

World War II

Selby participated in the landings at Normandy.

Selby was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Captain on 14 October, 1944.
