H.M.S. Saladin was one of sixty-seven "S" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy as the Great War was ending.

She paid off into reserve at Rosyth on 20 February, 1928.[8]

In 1934, her bell was offered for sale to naval officers and others who might be interested, at the price of £5 or perhaps £1.
