H.M.S. Crocodile was one of five Euphrates Class iron screw troopships completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
Crocodile was re-commissioned on 1 August, 1873.[1]
Crocodile was commissioned at Portsmouth on 15 August, 1876.[2]
Crocodile was commissioned at Portsmouth on 1 October, 1882.[3]
Crocodile was commissioned at Portsmouth on 5 February, 1884.[4]
On 29 November, Crocodile collided with a railway viaduct at Portsmouth. A Court of Inquiry concluded that no blame was attached to her captain, John R. E. Pattisson in the misadventure.
