Completed in mid-1902, H.M.S. Sutlej was one of six Cressy class cruisers.
Service
Sutlej was re-commissioned at Devonport on 8 February, 1911 for work with the Home Fleet.[8]
Sutlej paid off at Sheerness and recommissioned at Sheerness on 11 April, 1913 and her crew went to Triumph, for temporary service in the Eighth Battle Squadron while the ship took on a crew from Chatham Depot for service with the Third Fleet's Seventh Cruiser Squadron.[9]
At the outbreak of the Great War, Sutlej joined Cruiser Force F of the Channel Fleet before being sent to join Cruiser Force I.[10]
