Service

Paid off at Devonport on 17 September, 1920.[8] She served as the flagship on the North America and West Indies Station until she was lost to grounding off Labrador near Armour Point due to the negligence of Captain Bromley.[9]

In the aftermath, a cutter that had lowered to try to take a line to shore capsized, drowning eleven men. One man, Mindshipman Peter C. Hutton, found safety in the rocks, but set out into the heavy surf upon seeing a seaman named Reynolds being carried away. His rescue effort succeeded, and he was later awarded the Stanhope Medal for his courageous act.[10]
