H.M.S. Mutine was one of six Condor Class sloops completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

She completed her 30 hours steam trials in February 1891 under the temporary charge of Reginald Graham Gregory of the Sheerness Dockyard Reserve. The Times reported the details of her performance.[8]

She completed a refit at Sheerness Royal Dockyard in mid-November 1901 and was to proceed to the China Station under the command of Commander Claude William Manners Plenderleath.[9] Before departing, she conducted steam trials in the North Sea on 7 December, achieving 13.6 knots at 224.5 pounds pressure at boilers, 207.8 pounds at engine, at 200.4 RPM.[10]

On 7 April, 1904, Mutine arrived at Sydney in company with the Alert Class screw sloop Torch.[11]

Mutine was converted to use as a surveying vessel by 1925. She paid off to a C. & M. Party on 11 October, 1923.[12]

In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[13]
