H.M.S. Antelope was one of 11 torpedo gunboats of the Alarm class.

Service

In August 1891, her construction continued after a fifteen month hiatus. The Times was by now referring to the entire Sharpshooter class as being "notoriously unsuccessful."[6]

On 19 January 1894, she was taken outside Plymouth breakwater for an eight hours trial of her machinery. Despite very low expectations, this trial delivered 17 knots in heavy seas and a force five wind.[7]

Unlike her surviving sisters, Antelope was not converted to a minesweeper during the first decade of the twentieth century. Instead reduced to harbour service in 1910, first as a tender to Mercury to support submarines,[8], she commissioned at Pembroke Dock on 25 June, 1910[9] and eventually served at Devonport as a training ship. She was sold to T. R. Sales for breaking up on 27 May, 1919.[10]
