George Bowes Hutton
Admiral George Bowes Hutton, Royal Navy, Retired (22 May, 1867 – 15 January, 1947) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Hutton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 14 December, 1888.[1]
Hutton was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1901.[2]
Captain
Hutton was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1907.[3]
He was made captain of Diana on 6 January, 1914.[4]
Great War
Hutton was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 27 October, 1918, vice Gaunt and retired at his own request on 28 October.[5]
Retirement
He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 19 July, 1924,[6] and was advanced to Admiral on the Retired List on 22 February, 1928.[7]
Hutton died on 15 January, 1947 at The Cottage, Belton, near Uppingham after a short illness, at the age of seventy-nine.
