Staff Commander (Royal Navy)

The rank of Staff Commander was a commissioned rank in the Military Branch of the Royal Navy. It was established by Order in Council of 11 June, 1863. It ranked after Commanders and above Lieutenants.[1] The last Staff Commander on the active list was possible Frederick W. E. H. Smith, who was promoted to the rank of Staff Captain on 17 November, 1904.
