H.M.S. Conquest was one of six Caroline class light cruisers completed for the Royal Navy early in the Great War.

Service

On 28 March, 1916, a boat accident killed 39 of her crew.[8]

Damaged by a mine, Conquest paid off on 13 July, 1918[9] to undergo repairs. She would remain in a paid-off condition until being recommissioned by Captain Malcolm Lennon Goldsmith on 5 March, 1921.[10]

She re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 2 September 1924 for service with the First Submarine Flotilla of the Atlantic Fleet.[11] By mid-1927, they had moved to the Mediterranean.[12]

Alterations

Conquest was fitted with a director in March, 1918. This alteration required her pole mast to be replaced with a tripod mast for greater rigidity.[13]

At some point likely after the end of the war, she received a Dreyer Turret Control Table in her TS.[14]
