Frederick Thompson Groome
Commander R.N.R. (retired) Frederick Thompson Groome, R.D., O.B.E. (27 March, 1877 – 15 January, 1941) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Groome was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 23 December, 1912.[1]
Groome received an unfavourable report in 1918 following a collision between Convolvulus and H.M.Y. Monsoon.[2]
A notation in his Service Record seems unusual and may read, "5036/1280/18 Unfit for sin & he should be discharged to Hosp. for treatment." He was removed from command of Convolvulus around November, 1918.[3]
he was demobilised on 1 May, 1919.[4]
Groome was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 23 December, 1920.[5]
Groome was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 27 March, 1922. He would be removed from the Retired List due to non-report on 10 May, 1928.[6]
