Captain James Edward Bickford, (15 September, 1828 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Bickford was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 13 December, 1848.

Bickford was promoted to the rank of Commander on 6 August, 1860.

Bickford was promoted to the rank of Captain on 3 April, 1868.

While in command of the iron screw troopship Serapis, Bickford suffered two collisions in December 1873 as he travelled from Suez to Gibraltar and beyond. Amzingly, I see nothing in his service record about these.[1]

He retired at his own request on 16 September, 1876.
