Service

Upon the conclusion of the Newfoundland fishery season in October 1892, Emerald returned to England to be paid out of nine years continuous service on station.[5] She arrived at Plymouth on 20 October. Pending the result of a steam trial to assess her machinery, it was felt it was unlikely she would again be commissioned.[6]
