Admiral SIR Alfred Wyndham Paget, K.C.B., K.C.M.G., D.S.O., Royal Navy (20 March, 1852 – 17 June, 1918) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Paget was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 28 December, 1877.[1]

He was appointed to the composite sloop Dolphin on 11 August, 1893.[2]

Paget was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1896.[3]

On 3 June, 1899, Paget was appointed a Companion in the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George (C.M.G.).[4]

He took command of the battleship Royal Sovereign on 13 May, 1903.[5]

Flag Rank

Paget was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 October, 1906.[6]

On the occasion of King George V's coronation he was promoted Knight Commander in the Order of the Bath (K.C.B) on 19 June, 1911.[7]

Paget was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 1 March, 1911, vice Lambton.[8]

Paget was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 8 December, 1913, vice Denison.[9]

Great War

He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 14 September, 1914.[10] He was granted a temporary Commission as Commander in the Royal Naval Reserve on 18 September, 1914.[11]
