H.M.S. Princess was the former commercial liner Kronprinzessin Cecilie that was detained in Falmouth in 1914 and taken up to serve in the Royal navy both as a dummy battleship Ajax and as an Armed Merchant Cruiser.
Service
She started as a mock version of the light cruiser H.M.S. Ajax, but ion October 1915, she was converted to an Armed Merchant Cruiser, recommissioning in that role on 9 January, 1916.[1]
Armament
She was armed with:[2]
- eight 6-in guns
- two 6-pdrs on H.A. mountings
