Captain (retired) Arthur Avison Scott, D.S.O., R.N. (3 December, 1883 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Reverend Avison T. Scott was born in Bootle, Lancashire.

Scott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 September, 1905.

Scott was appointed in command of the destroyer Lively on 18 August, 1910.[1]

Scott was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 September, 1913.

On 15 March, 1914, he was appointed in command of the destroyer Lawford,[2] and was her captain during the Battle of Dover Strait on the night of 26-27 October, 1916.[3]

Scott was appointed in command of the destroyer Sybille in June, 1917.[4]

Scott was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1918.

He was appointed in command of the destroyer Sterling on 8 January, 1920.[5]

Scott was retired on 1 January, 1923 and promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 3 December, 1928.
