H.M.S. Garnet was one of six Emerald Class corvettes completed for the Royal Navy.
Service
Commissioned at Sheerness on 7 September, 1882.[6]
Re-commissioned at Malta on 1 November, 1890.[7]
Upon returning to England after nearly seven years' service on the Pacific Station in August, 1894, the ship was paid off into B Division of the Medway Fleet Reserve.[8]
