Commander William Bruce Keith, (15 April, 1898 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of P. Keith, Esq., a solicitor and Notary Public, Keith was a special entry to the Training Establishment in September 1915. He passed out on 1 April 1916 and on the 15th was appointed to the battleship Centurion. A week later, he was re-assigned to the super-dreadnought H.M.S. Warspite. He would see action in her at the Battle of Jutland as part of the Fifth Battle Squadron. He left her in January 1918 for a brief Torpedo Control course in Portsmouth.[1]
Keith served in the destroyer Versatile through the end of the war, being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 August, 1919.[2]
Keith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 August, 1927.[3]
World War II
Keith was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Commander on 15 April, 1943.[4]
He was declared unfit for further service on 19 October, 1951. In 1954, he was admitted to Haslar Hospital to be treated for osteo-arthritis.[5]
