Lieutenant Robert Humphrey Downes, R.N. (8 July, 1881 – 24 November, 1908) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Woolwich, the son of Colonel Leonard Downes, 1 R.G..
Downes was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1902.
Downes was appointed as Lieutenant & Commander of the new first-class torpedo boat T.B. 10 on 10 May, 1907.
Downes died of enteric fever on 24 November, 1908 and was replaced in command of the torpedo boat by Walter J. Fletcher.
