Rear Admiral Stephen Bleecker Luce (25 March, 1827 – 28 July, 1917) was a leading strategist and intellectual in the late nineteenth century United States Navy whose greatest impact was as the founder of the Naval War College.
Life & Career
Luce was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 16 September, 1855.
Luce was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander on 16 July, 1862.
Luce was promoted to the rank of Commander on 25 July, 1866.
Luce was promoted to the rank of Captain on 28 December, 1872.
Luce was promoted to the rank of Commodore on 25 November, 1881.
Luce was promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral on 5 October 1885.
