Captain Caspar Silas Balfour Swinley, D.S.O., D.S.C. (28 October, 1898 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Swinley was a Special Entry to the Training Establishment on 15 September 1916. Upon passing out in March 1917, he was appointed to the battlecruiser New Zealand. He served in the ship until being sent to join Ceres on 3 February, 1919. He was invalided from the ship in June, suffering from displaced cartilage in his left knee, but returned to her on 8 September upon being declared fit.[1]
Swinley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1920.[2]
Swinley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1928.[3]
Swinley was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1934.[4]
World War II
Swinley was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1942.[5]
Swinley was placed on the Retired List on 7 July, 1951.[6]
