S.M.S. D 8 was one of two D 7 Class divisional torpedo boats completed for the Imperial German Navy.

Construction

D 7 was launched on 6 May, 1891.[8]

Service

D 8 commissioned on on 25 July, 1891 and served as a torpedo boat and minesweeper flotilla flagship until 1908.[9]

During 1900 D 8 was flagship of the C. (III.) Torpedobootsdivision, an element of the II. Torpedobootsflotille[10]

D 8 was overhauled at Schichau's Elbing yard during 1907, and was reboilered with new Marine-type boilers.[11]

D 8 served as a coast defense vessel during 1914, a submarine training vessel in 1916, and experimental duties in 1917. She was stricken on 7 December, 1920 and broken up in 1921 at Hamburg.[12]
