H.M.S. Spenser was one of five flotilla leaders of the Shakespeare class.
Service
Spenser commissioned on 1 December, 1917.[5]
Equipment
In 1919, she was selected to receive one of the first five Renouf Torpedo Tactical Instrument Type As.[6]

Dates of appointment are provided when known.
- Captain Humphrey Thomas Walwyn, D.S.O., 29 April, 1920, and as Captain (D) of Second Destroyer Flotilla.[7]
