Lieutenant R.N.R. (temporary) James Barclay, (18 November, 1891 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Barclay entered the R.N.R. as a Sub-Lieutenant R.N.R. on 12 August, 1916. He was appointed to T.B. 5 on 24 October, 1916. On 30 July 1917, she collided with the destroyer Viking. The Commander-in-Chief surmised that the collision would have been avoided had Barclay switched on the navigation lights. In 1918, he would find himself in temporary command of the torpedo boat following one of Lt. Wyndham Douglas Hart-Dyke's more protracted illneses.[1]
Barclay was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 12 August, 1918.[2]
Seemingly in T.B. 5 his entire career, Barclay was demobilised on 31 May 1919.[3]
