Thames was commissioned on 19 June, 1932.[1]

- Lieutenant-Commander James G. Gould, 10 November, 1936[3]
- Commander Denis V. Sprague, 27 December, 1939[4] – 4 July, 1940[5] (killed in harbour incident with Vichy submarine)
- Lieutenant-Commander William D. Dunkerley, 4 July, 1940[6] – c. late July, 1940[7] (died when submarine lost)
