Lieutenant-Commander Reginald Hugh Ransome (25 September, 1886 – 12 December, 1917) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Reginald Hugh Ransome was born in Winchester on 25 September, 1886. He entered the Navy as a Britannia cadet on 15 May, 1901.[1]
Upon graduating Britannia he gained three months' seniority.[2]
Ransome was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1908.[3]
In December, 1910, Ransome was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 67.[4]
Upon giving up command of T.B. 067 on 30 March, 1911, Ransome was appointed in command of the Teazer the same day.[5]
Ransome was appointed in command of the destroyer Coquette on 3 April, 1912.[6]
Ransome was promoted to Lieutenant-Commander on 1 October, 1916.[7]
He was killed in action while in command of the H.M.S. Partridge on 12 December, 1917.[8][9]
