Rear-Admiral (retired) Fitzroy Evelyn Patrick Hutton, C.B. (16 January, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Hutton gained four months' time on passing out of the Training Establishment.
Hutton was awarded the Goodenough Medal for 1914, being the Sub-Lieutenant who achieved the highest gunnery examination for the year and who also achieved a first-class certificate in seamanship.
Hutton was appointed to the light cruiser Dartmouth on 6 May 1914. After being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 April, 1915 he left Dartmouth for an appointment as first lieutenant in the monitor M.31.
He was appointed to Christopher in September 1916 and was superseded in her on 26 April, 1917.
He was then appointed to H.M.S. Excellent on 4 June, 1917 for a Long Course in Gunnery, and was awarded the Commander Egerton Prize for 1917. He stayed on at Excellent after completing his course in January 1918, joining the Experimental section in March.
Post-War
Hutton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 April, 1923.
Hutton was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1927.
Hutton was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1933.
World War II
Hutton was appointed in command of the battleship Warspite in March, 1942.
Hutton was placed on the Retired List on 12 January, 1943.
Hutton reverted to the Retired List and was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 July, 1946.
