H.M.S. Emerald (1876)
Builder: Pembroke Royal Dockyard[1]
Launched: 18 Aug, 1876[2]
Completed: Jun, 1878[3]
Sold: 1906[4]

H.M.S. Emerald was one of six Emerald Class corvettes completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Upon the conclusion of the Newfoundland fishery season in October 1892, Emerald returned to England to be paid out of nine years continuous service on station.[5] She arrived at Plymouth on 20 October. Pending the result of a steam trial to assess her machinery, it was felt it was unlikely she would again be commissioned.[6]

In June 1906, she was listed for sale at a July 10th Portsmouth auction of "Obsolete War Vessels and Other Craft" as "Lot 6".[7]
