H.M.S. Niger was a composite paddle-wheeler launched in 1880. She was renamed Cockatrice in 1881 and renamed again to Moorhen in 1896. She was sold in 1899.
Service
Commissioned at Sheerness as H.M.S. Cocktrice on 10 May, 1881. By 1885, she was serving on the Danube.[1]
