H.M.S. D 4 was one of 8 submarines of the "D" class.

Service

On 12 May, 1918, she torpedoed and sank UB 72 at 50deg 08' N., 2deg, 41' W..[6]

Guns

In 1909, D 4 was the first British submarine to mount a gun: a 12-pdr on a disappearing mounting.[7]
