Career

Venus was commissioned at Chatham on 9 November, 1897, by Captain Sir A. Berkeley Milne, Bart., for service in the Mediterranean.[2][3]

Radio

In 1901, the ship is one of just two of her class of nine not noted as having or being slated to receive a "1 to 52" W/T set.[4] Perhaps she received equipment sometime soon afterward.[Inference]
