Commander (retired) William McClure Lunt, (7 January, 1878 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve. I need to check whether he was an Australian or a Brit.
"You may remember me from such Commonwealth services as xxxx".
Life & Career
Lunt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 28 December, 1909.[1]
On 9 August, 1914 he was appointed to the second class protected cruiser Challenger.[2]
In mid 1915, he was commended for his command of the Nyong Flotilla.[3]
On 21 December 1915, he was reported as slightly wounded at the Nyong River in Cameroon. He was able to continue on duty.[4]
Lunt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 28 December, 1917.[5]
In 1919, the Admiralty did not agree with a suggestion to honour him for services in East Africa. On 4 July, he was to be demobilised from his date of arrival in England, his previous orders being cancelled. He was demobilised on 7 September 1919.[6]
Lunt was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 19 September, 1921.[7]
