Commander (emergency) Douglas Alfred Bingley, O.B.E. (17 June, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of F. P. Norman Bingley, Esq., Barrister at Law.[1]
Bingley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 September, 1915. On 4 August, 1916 he was admitted to Chatham Naval Hospital to be treated for gonorrhea. He was found fit on the 23rd.[2]
Bingley was placed on the Emergency List on 9 July 1919 and received permission to proceed to New Zealand. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 September, 1923.[3]
World War II
He was placed on the Emergency List at some point before May 1939.[4]
By December, 1943, he was an Acting Captain, though he still held the rank of Lt. Cdr.. By April, 1944 he was serving in the Royal New Zealand Navy.[5]
Bingley was promoted to the rank of Commander on the Emergency List on 3 September, 1945.[6]
He reverted to the Emergency List on 20 September, 1946.[7]
