Commander (retired) John Roberts Poland, R.N. (20 January, 1893 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
The son of a surgeon.
Poland was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1915. He was appointed to the Achates on 8 March 1916 and would fight in her at the Battle of Jutland as part of the {UK-DF|4}}.
Poland was appointed in command of the patrol boat P58 on 22 June, 1918.[1]
Poland was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1923. He commanded M.L. 291 from the end of 1924 through 20 April 1926, vice Bilton[?].
Poland was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 20 January, 1936.
