Commander R.N.R. (retired) Ernest Atwood Owens, R.D. (23 January, 1888 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Owens was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 8 January, 1915. He was cautioned to exercise more care following a 1916 grounding of T.B. 111. Later that year, he was relieved of command following a collision with the coast guard vessel Watchful. In 1918, he suffered a navigating report.[1]

Owens was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 8 January, 1923.[2]

Owens was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 1 January, 1933.[3]

World War II

Owens was promoted to Commander R.N.R. in 1940.[4]
