Captain Thomas Claud Hampton, (20 January, 1903 – 22 May, 1941) served in the Royal Navy.

As with many men born c. 1899 or later, his Service Records at The National Archives do not reflect activity between 1931 and 1939 or so.

Life & Career

His first ships, in 1921, were H.M.S. Tiger and Dublin.

In 1924, he received training in submarines and served in some unspecified boats under care of Titania in 1925.

Hampton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 June, 1925.[1]

Hampton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 June, 1933.[2]

Hampton was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1936.[3]

World War II

Hampton was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1940.[4]

Hampton was killed in the loss of his command, H.M.S. Carlisle.
